As a mother, Terri McCormick believes that life begins at conception. As a member of the Wisconsin Assembly, she supported legislation to ban human cloning and to ban the morning after pill from college campuses. Terri believes that life is too sacred to put college students at risk with careless disregard for the value of the student and the unborn.
Terri McCormick believes that life must be embraced at its beginnings. In Congress, Terri will fight to protect every child because she believes that every human life has value. She opposes embryonic stem cell research. Fortunately, adult stem cell research is already yielding results for patients with Alzheimer’s, spinal cord injuries, and Parkinson’s Disease. The single most important issue facing Wisconsin is creating new private sector jobs. Terri McCormick doesn’t believe government can successfully do that because too much government is the problem. Terri believes government waste, fraud, and mismanagement that have produced the main threat facing our country: financial insolvency.
The country cannot continue to borrow 55 cents of every dollar spent by the federal government. We cannot expand federal entitlement programs as Congressman Kagen has voted to do time and time again. And we cannot continue to use 20th century methods to address the global crises of the 21st century.
While in the legislature, Terri McCormick served as the Chairwoman of Economic Development Committee from 2003 to 2006. During that time, Wisconsin saw a spike in revenues from a healthy economy. Terri McCormck believes in free market competition in the global economy. She also believes that it is the job of the United States government to negotiate fair market trade policies so that American products and services see the light of day in foreign markets.
As the former Economic Development Chair of the Wisconsin Assembly, Terri understands the importance of open and free markets to American companies and their products, access to capital and an even playing field in the global economy. The challenge rests with ensuring fair trade and access for the United States as we seek to expand our products and services globally.
Terri McCormick believes in accountability and transparency for all government agencies, including the Federal Reserve. The Fed regulates the banking system in the U.S., including lending rates and financial services to the government.
Terri supports Congressman Ron Paul’s efforts to audit the Federal Reserve to ensure that checks and balances are in place to safeguard the our monetary system. She believes that the free market can do a better job at setting interest rates and ensuring a stable financial system than unelected bureaucrats. The need for a strong dollar is more critical at this time in history given the recent near collapse of the banking system in addition to the Wall Street debacle, the housing crisis, and the highest unemployment rate since the Great Depression.
Auditing the Federal Reserve, while not the only solution, is a good interim step to make a little known, but very important, unregulated federal agency accountable to the American people. In addition, Terri McCormick supports money policies that are transparent and honest and will work to empowering the American people to learn more about the Federal Reserve.
