Steve Kagen is the Point Man on the Obama-Pelosi Health Care Boondoggle

McCormick Says “Business Model, Not Bureaucracy Model” Should Be Used in Health Care Reform

March 18, 2010

Appleton, Wisconsin — Terri McCormick, Republican Congressional candidate in Wisconsin’s Eighth District, has obtained direct information from another member of Congress that Wisconsin’s own Steve Kagen is the point person for passing the Obama-Pelosi Health Care bill.  “My contacts have informed me that Steve Kagen is the man on the House floor who is rallying support for the bill.  He is using his status as a doctor to woo Blue Dog Democrats who are on the fence about the bill,” said McCormick.

As the Congress prepares to vote on the U.S. Senate’s health care reform bill in the coming days, Republican Congressional candidate Terri McCormick believes the Obamacare bill will have disastrous consequences for families and workers in Northeast Wisconsin.  In a video released at TerriMcCormickforCongress.com, McCormick said that “It’s time for health care reform that reforms health care costs!”

The Obamacare bill being considered does not have a final score from the Congressional Budget Office related to its economic consequences.  Even worse, Congressman Kagen’s friends, President Obama and Nancy Pelosi, may be looking to bypass the U.S. House and send the legislation directly to the President for approval.

“Steve Kagen is the point man in this effort to get the 216 votes needed to pass a massive government takeover of our health care,” said McCormick.  “The truth is that they are short on votes, so now they may send the Senate bill to the President for signature without it having passed the House,” said Terri McCormick.

“The U.S. Constitution requires that the bill is passed by both Chambers of the Congress.  These elite politicians are ignoring the will of the people, and may soon be ignoring the law of the land,” said McCormick, the author of Wisconsin’s cost-saving, solution-driven Prescription Drug Purchasing Pool of 2002.

“When we implemented the Wisconsin purchasing pool, we were using a business model rather than a bureaucracy model – and we saved taxpayers $25 million in the first year,” said McCormick. “But the politicians in DC are using a bureaucracy model that will further depersonalize our health care system by over involving the federal government.”

Several of the solutions Terri McCormick supports as a part of her business model approach include allowing insurers to cross state lines, transparency for health care cost bidding, and empowering individuals to view different health care options via the Internet. “I will work to implement safeguards for seniors, reduce health care costs, and put people ahead of special interests,” pledged McCormick.

“I created health care cost solutions as a Representative in the Wisconsin Assembly.  I will bring solution-focused models into the U.S. House of Representatives should I earn the trust of Northeast Wisconsin voters in November,” she said.  “But most important of all is the fact that I have no interest in backroom deals or in ignoring the will of the people of the Eighth district, which is exactly what Congressman Kagen and his buddies are up to this week in Washington.”
